Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
This is it. I'm done. Flav O Rich and Valley Rich were both owned by National Dairy Holdings out of Texas. I worked for Valley Rich from Dec 99, till July 05. NDH shut down VR then and we were absorbed by FOR. When VR went under I lost a lot of big accounts like Kroger, Wal Mart, K-Mart, Winn Dixie, Whites, Heritage Hall, and several others. Since that time FOR had gotten me one convenience store in Clintwood to offset all of those losses. I lost $10,000 off my pay from 05-06. The accounts I had left will be absorbed by a distributor that they're paying out of KY and another route in Kingsport.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
Ahh, outsourcing don't you love that crap. I remember Greasy talking about going through the same thing and losing around the same amount, had to have been at the same time.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
Yep. He lost Heritage Hall in Wise. That probably cost him $50 a week on his paycheck alone.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
The one he really hated to lose (not sure if he ever did but was talking about it) was the Thrift-Way in Gate City.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...

You can always mow my yard and wash my cars & boats.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
He lost Thriftway a few years back. I think that hurt at the time, but he's recovered from that since then.
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
Gettin laid off sucks, I along with a lot of my buddies were laid off at Mullican a few weeks ago. I think they laid off 50 or more, don't know how long that place will last if market conditions don't improve.
Being on unemployment sucks cause you don't make near as much as your used too, but when all my friends ask me how i'm doin, I tell 'em i'm livin the "American Dream" sittin at home drawin a check. LoL
Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
I found myself out of work for the first time in my life last year. Thought about things for a few days, and decided to learn to drive a truck. Won't be out of work again. Plus more money, better benefits, and a job I actually like for a change.

Re: The wonderful world of unemployment...
There is a serious shortage of qualified drivers. Most companies are begging for help. I have no idea how they get their informaton, but I get offers from companies constantly and I haven't applied to anybody since I started driving. Nice to have options.
